The Wind in the Willows
Adapted for the stage and directed by Robin Walters.
This new adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's classic book has been written by Robin Walters to mark the centenary of the passing of the Victorian era. It is designed to bring into focus the context of the story; the transformation of England from a rural to an urban society, and from a society based on agriculture to one based on industry and commerce. The adaptation borrows from Victorian social and political history - in no particular order - to refresh references that would have been clear to readers of the book in 1908 when it was first published.
But, whatever the background and references, the adaptation is intended to reflect the beauty and humour of a wonderful work of English literature, and brings to life on stage the familiar characters of Mole, Rat, Badger and the adventures of their friend, Mr. Toad, in a new and exciting way.
