What The Butler Saw

What the Butler Saw was Joe Orton's last, richest and funniest play.  At heart, a play attacking the way power and respectability are used and misused, it is also a gloriously funny black comedy/farce which has been described as a comedy classic of English literature.

As always, Orton's play is adult in humour, so if you don't like being shocked while you laugh, this is probably not your play.  It is as uninhibited as a seaside postcard.  On the other hand, it is a play which could leave you with food for thought as well as aching sides from laughing.
