Present Laughter
This is one of Coward's most famous plays and concerns itself with the central figure of Garry Essendine, an accomplished actor, very arrogant yet very lovable who, having reached the wrong side of 40 years old, still thinks he is young enough to conquer any young female who falls for his charms. Only by the efforts of his few close friends to keep him in line does he avoid disaster, and it is the realisation of their friendship that eventually brings him to his senses.
