The Old Ladies
This is a gripping play set in a boarding house during Christmas and the early part of the New Year during the 1930s. Agatha Payne, an old lady of gypsy extraction, harsh and cruel, has an insatiable desire to possess a piece of amber. Miss Berrenger, another elderly lady but genteel and of some quality, possesses such a piece.
This tense drama shows how the strong, cruel lady sets out to obtain it, through threat, continual harassment and any other wicked device available, eventually with disastrous results.
