The Miracle Worker
The Miracle Worker is based on the early life of Helen Keller who, though blind, deaf and dumb as a result of an early illness, became a noted writer and lecturer. Set in the early 19th century, this story of her childhood and the way in which her tutor, Annie Sullivan, established contact with the almost helpless child and helped her to overcome her affliction, makes a most moving play, of which the Daily Telegraph wrote 'It brings qualities of simplicity, of awareness and of compassion which are almost forgotten and which have not been expressed in the theatre for a very long time'.
