London Assurance
The play is set in Regency England and uses the text prepared by Ronald Eyre specially for the RCS's 1970 staging. The characters are drawn larger than life but possessed of frailties whose absurdity is only too human. There are numerous love affairs, that of Sir Harcourt Courtly with his mirror being not the least and a story line that, although not lacking interest and impetus, never becomes too complex to follow.
