Hamlet
'The Tragicall Hiftorie of Hamlet, Prince of Denmarke' by William Shakespeare was entered in the Stationers Register on 26th July 1602, but performed perhaps as early as 1599. Over four centuries it has become the best known, best loved and most studied of his 36 plays.
This production is a shortened version of Hamlet, designed to run under two and a half hours, and is presented under 'studio' conditions. It has been said that 'Shakespeare is forever pursued by those four horsemen of the artistic apocalypse - interpretation, re-interpretation, over-interpretation and misinterpretation'. Our aim here is simply to concentrate and clarify.
