The Golden Era
-
Production Company:
An entertainment devised and produced by John Darnell and Eric Yardley.
The Golden Era sets out to present the Music Hall when it was at its peak, between the 1880s and the First World War, against a backcloth of the times when this peak was attained. But since that glorious era, the last sad, seedy days of Vaudeville, presenting tired acts in grimy, peeling, half empty theatres whose atmosphere was little more than an overwhelming smell of disinfectant and cigarettes, have obscured our vision of true music hall.
