Entertaining Mr. Sloane
Written by Joe Orton in the early 60s, Entertaining Mr. Sloane represents the watershed in both his career and in British farce. While the action is confined within the established parameters of its type, Orton frees his imagination through the vigour of his dialogue, thrusting his audience into the seemingly respectable world of Middle England - a world he sees as created by 'his betters' and one which he feels duty-bound to expose, through his wit, as morally corrupt.
