The Day After the Fair

Based on a short story by Thomas Hardy

Anna, a young servant girl, has been befriended by her mistress.  She meets an attractive stranger at the fair and a second meeting leads to unexpected complications.  Anna, genuinely fond of the young man, cannot read or write and persuades her mistress to carry on a correspondence with him on her behalf.
