The Crucible
Arthur Miller's drama has lost none of its edge since it took London by storm in 1956. It tells the story of a devout and hard-working community swept into a sudden hysterical frenzy of terror and injustice by the fear of witchcraft. The play is based on events which actually took place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, and Arthur Miller has kept closely to historical fact, welding it into one of the most powerful and exciting dramas ever brought to the stage.
