It's the 1930's.  World economic instability has followed the First World War.  Now is the time to sweep away the older order and bring in the new.  And nowhere was this truer than in Berlin; moral, social and artistic revolution churning in the heart of a country struggling to retain its Imperial dignity in the face of the humiliation of defeat and near economic collapse.  Decadence, poverty, racism, immorality, romance and despair mixed liberally with song, dance, lingerie, booze, sex, make-up and fresh fruit - and that's all before the interval!
