The Stronger and Creditors

August Strindberg is one of the great names, and The Creditors one of his great plays.  Adolph, an artist, weak willed and indecisive, is married to Tekla - vibrant, strong and beautiful.  But her ex-husband, Gustav, has insinuated himself into Adolph’s life and convinced him of her adultery and his own ill health.  Can Gustav gain his revenge on the woman who left him?

The Stronger portrays a meeting of two actresses in a cafe, one young, one old; another examination of marital and extramarital relationships, flavoured by Strindberg’s own mistrust of women.
