Shakespeare in Love

Based on the Oscar winning film, a play of romance, exuberance, and the magic of theatre.
-
Production Company:

Based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard, adapted for the stage by Lee Hall, with music by Paddy Cunneen

Theatre is flourishing again after closure from the plague, and a young playwright by the name of William Shakespeare has shown great promise. Just one problem - he’s got writer’s block. Cue a muse: one Viola De Lesseps, who he promptly falls in love with and inspires him to write one of the greatest romances of all time. She likes him too and decides the only way to get closer to him is to impersonate a man to play his Romeo. But the course of true love never did run smooth, and Viola is betrothed to the brutish Lord Wessex.

This wonderfully funny and entertaining West End hit from Billy Elliot writer Lee Hall, adapting the multi-Oscar-winning film by Tom Stoppard & Marc Norman, is one of the greatest stories about theatre and love of all time.

This amateur production of SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
