Incident at Vichy
Incident at Vichy is a one-act play written in 1964 by American dramatist Arthur Miller.
A group of men have been detained in Vichy France in 1942 – they are being held for ‘racial’ inspection by French and German officers.
Incident at Vichy is an intensely powerful play raising questions about mans’ reaction in the face of authoritarian regimes, themes that are as relevant today as they were when the play was written. But apart from these eternal questions, it is also a very personal insight into how a group of very different men react to their impending fate. Important questions in the hands of one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th century.
