Following the sell-out success of the 2024 New Writing Fringe, which proudly showcased eight original works over six thrilling performances, we’re excited to announce the return of the TTC Fringe in 2025. This year’s event will take place in the Coward Studio, with the week commencing 1st April already reserved for what promises to be another unforgettable showcase of new writing talent.
We’re now inviting submissions from all TTC members, whether you’re a seasoned writer or venturing into playwriting for the first time. The number of pieces included in the 2025 Fringe will depend entirely on the quality and variety of submissions we receive. And yes, this is your official call to get creative!
What we're Looking For:
- Submissions from all members: Whether you’re an established playwright or a complete novice, we want to hear from you.
- Anonymised review process: All submissions will be anonymised before being reviewed by our Programming team, who will also serve as the judging panel.
Criteria:
- Playing Time: No longer than 30 minutes.
- Cast Size: Maximum of four actors (doubling allowed).
- Technical Simplicity: Minimal set, costume, props, lighting, and sound requirements. We reserve the right to simplify or exclude plays if they are too technically demanding.
- Rehearsal Feasibility: Must be capable of being rehearsed outside of HHT spaces, with limited access to the theatre for tech and dress rehearsals during the weekend before the run. Keep it simple! The emphasis is on the writing and performance. The New Writing Fringe is your opportunity to showcase your storytelling skills, not stretch the technical capabilities of our studio.
Important Dates:
- Submission Deadline: Friday 10th January 2025.
- Judging & Selection: The programming team will review and discuss all submissions by the end of January, with successful scripts announced in early February.
- Production Timeline: That then gives a week or so to recruit directors and cast, and then a further six to seven weeks for rehearsal.
For questions or further details, please reach out to me at artistic@teddingtontheatre.org.uk.
The person to whom to submit scripts, who will be responsible for the anonymisation, will be confirmed nearer the deadline.
We’re eagerly awaiting your creativity!
Best regards,
Danny Wain
